When is the last time you did nothing?

I love going to new places.  I love new stamps in my passport, new artwork around my home, new magnets on my refrigerator, new memories to relish.

But I also love returning to the tried and true.  Returning to places where the vibe is just right, the service is impeccable, and the entire experience is restorative.

The Art of Doing Nothing.

It’s becoming a lost art, the Art of Doing Nothing, isn’t it?  A blank agenda, nothing on the daily “to do” list.  Just allowing the day to unfold, bringing with it the glories and special moments that can only be found when we slow down.

Sunrise.  My favorite time of day.  I enjoy sunrise every single day.  But I especially love sunrise over the ocean.  Which brings up my favorite destination in which to do nothing, the beach.

I live and breathe for my history/adventure focused trips.  But I’ll never give up my beach escapes.

In September Doug and I return to one of my favorite little boutique resorts for our anniversary.  Just over 100 rooms.  Adult only.  Gourmet all-inclusive.  Blinding white sand beach.  Beautiful pools.  Spacious, well-appointed rooms.  For almost 20 years it’s been my special escape.  Just thinking about it brings a big smile to my face and drops my blood pressure a notch or two.

In February I have another little escape planned for us.  Another, similar resort to which we have traveled often.  A place of relaxation, unwinding, doing nothing.

When is your next “doing nothing” escape?  Where do you walk on the beach, watch the sea birds, listen to the sound of the waves?  Maybe enjoy a massage or two?

I encourage you to consider a trip that is focused on restoration, on relaxation, on respite.  If you don’t have a resort that for you is tried and true, just ask us.  We know quite a few resorts that are wonderfully equipped to help enhance your skills at doing nothing.

Your Globetrotting Friend,
JOY
