LIVE from OKC

Hello Friends,

I am writing to you LIVE and in person from beautiful OKC.

“Wait a minute, I thought you were supposed to be in the Arctic Circle right now for your 65th birthday” you are saying to yourselves. And you’re right…that’s exactly where I am supposed to be.

Doug had a tiny little basal cell carcinoma on his left cheek. No biggie. He’s had those before. A simple day surgery (MOHS procedure) would take care of it in May and we’d get on the ship in June.

You probably guessed how that turned out. What was supposed to be a small thing turned into massive tissue removal and a summer that now has four reconstructive surgeries scheduled for Doug. No Arctic Circle. No Svalbard-Beyond the North Cape.

If that had happened to you, and you didn’t have travel insurance, you’d have lost $26,000 plus.

I just wanted, today, to let you know that insurance matters. It matters to me. It matters to you. And having travel insurance, especially for those big-ticket trips, is imperative.

Even if it isn’t a big-ticket trip, and you can afford to lose the cost of the trip if you must cancel, the “during travel” health insurance benefit can have huge impact as well. I broke my leg on a ski trip years ago. My travel insurance picked up $30,000 of my deductible expenses during my recovery. That’s not chump change.

When I encourage you to buy the insurance, it’s because personal experience has taught me the value of it. And I truly hope you never have to use it.

The good news is despite the surrounding thunderstorms Leigh Ann and Stefan departed as scheduled yesterday for her Fjordieth Birthday trip to the Norwegian Fjords with Silversea. Three of my agents have returned home from great private group trips to Europe and Alaska, and Kassey attended the Grand Opening of the new AVA resort in Cancun.

Have a wonderful weekend, stay safe, and wear sunscreen.

Your Globetrotting Friend,
Joy
