How do I share my Jamaica feedback?
Hello friends,
I have been really struggling with how to share my experience on the recent trip to Jamaica. I shudder to say anything negative about any brand. I truly do. But overall, my experience at the resorts in Jamaica was not what I would have expected it to be. Certainly not for the price point.
There were four adult-only resorts that I would book for you without hesitation. There was one family-friendly resort that met my expectations. We experienced nine resorts.
Other than that, the others are a “no”. A hard “no”.
At one resort our air-conditioner wasn’t working. There was a 100-degree heat index every day during our trip. Leigh Ann and I went to the front desk six times in the two days we were there, asking for that to be fixed. I even offered to pay for a room upgrade. I was denied a new room, and the A/C was never fixed. If they treat me that way, their “honored” guest, how do you think they’ll respond to you should you have a similar issue? They are now on our “do not book” list.
I had been to Mexico the week before where the food was wonderful. I did not have a single meal on this weeklong Jamaican trip that compared to the food I had in Mexico.
Some of the rooms were truly spectacular. But the food at the resort, the beach at the resort, the pools at the resort, some component that to me is critical, was usually missing from the package. Again, especially considering the price point.
I want to add the service staff at the resorts were wonderful. We never had a negative encounter with a staff member. Waiters, housekeeping, across the board they were great.
I don’t want to linger over this negative review. I am very glad I went on the trip. The information I gleaned will be critical to my recommendations going forward.
I now know which properties I feel good about offering, and which I will not recommend.
That’s why we go. That’s why I say “We never recommend anywhere we haven’t tried first.”
I always try to be completely honest with you, so there it is, the unflattering truth from my perspective.
For the record, I love Jamaica. I know lots of great resorts across Jamaica that work wonderfully for a wide variety of our customers.
Never just assume that a brand, any brand, has 100% great choices. There are always weak links in the chain, and we make it our business to know which those are.
