What will they say when you’re gone?
Europeans place extremely high value on vacations. Americans, well, in our hard-working culture, we just do not.
When it’s all said and done, the only people who will remember you worked late every day and waived your PTO are the people who love you.
The hardest way to find out about work/life balance is to get sick. Seriously ill. You’d be amazed at how quickly you are replaced at work. You’d be amazing to find loving family members and friends who take care of you, who are there for you, who do not write you off and just move on with their lives.
If I can impart any tidbit of Sr. Citizen wisdom to you today, it’s this: Make time to prioritize family, friends and fun.
Make time for the special people in your life. Whether it’s date night weekly with your spouse, family night with your kids, friends’ luncheons with those unrelated people who have become family to you. Make the time.
Here at The Joy of Travel we work hard. Very, very hard. 60 hour weeks are the norm, not the exception.
But do you know what else we do? We play even harder. We vacation, and we do it a lot. We do it with family, we do it with friends, we do it with each other.
We have discovered that burn out is real. Scheduling regular, rejuvenating vacations is the secret to maintaining our equilibrium.
Whether it’s a 3 night quick get-away to Cancun (which is a great way to reset your battery), or a twelve day European river cruise in the lap of luxury, get your get-aways scheduled. Look at your calendar, and figure out when, and for how long, you can take a break.
When you reach out to an agent at The Joy of Travel, tell us what you want to experience, and what you can afford to pay, and we will bend over backwards to make that dream a reality for you.
We value fun time, our own, and just as importantly, yours.
Your Globetrotting Friend,
Joy
