But, Have You Tried It?

My agent Megan O'Neal told me a pizza story that I just had to share with you. I have already ordered our pizza's, and hope you'll try a new pizza as well as a new travel experience in the near future.

Recently, a couple of friends invited my husband and myself over to their house for dinner and a dip in their hot tub.  It’s rare when we both have time to join other couples so we were both thrilled at the invite.  Although we were watching our granddaughter, we still planned to go, even if it was later that evening.  Once our granddaughter went home, we headed to our friend’s house about 9pm.  We missed the dinner, of course, but enjoyed their company and others while catching up on our recent activities.  Soon, we all headed to change and went to relax in the hot tub.  Time flies when there is so much to talk about and before long it was midnight. We were all craving a late-night snack – pizza.  Given the hour, we couldn’t find a place open that was still delivering.  So, our hosts mentioned that they had their favorite pizza shipped from Lou Malnati’s in Chicago and have 1 left in the freezer. I couldn’t imagine loving a pizza so much as to having it shipped from out of state.  Who does that when we have so many great pizza restaurants here in Oklahoma?  Honestly, I was never a true deep-dish pizza fan, even when we lived near Chicago, but I changed my mind that night when I took my first bite of that deep-dish cheese pizza.  Where had this pizza been all my life and why had I not tried it?

The next day, I was reminiscing how tasty that pizza was while my husband sat on the couch searching the internet on pizzas shipped from Chicago.  When he asked me how much I would be willing to pay for our own, I told him not more than $20.  “Good news” he said.  We can buy 6 for under $20 a pizza!

You may be wondering “what does pizza have to do with travel”?  Easy, because I love making analogies.  You may go to the same resort every year on vacation because you know it well. It’s comfortable and familiar – just like the same pizzas you eat when you want comfort food.  But, when you trust us at The Joy of Travel – where experience matters, you’ll find that new place to vacation and wonder why you’ve been passing it up all this time. Let me encourage you to take the chance on trying something new.  We will all learn something new about ourselves and have fun stories to tell.

Don’t worry.  I wouldn’t talk about how delicious a pizza was without providing a link to check it out for yourself.  https://www.tastesofchicago.com/category/Lou_Malnatis_Pizza
