Christine McGlashen

My name is Christine McGlashen and I am a Travel Specialist with The Joy of Travel. My wanderlust spirit began in 2004 when I took my first international trip to visit my college roommate who had been assigned to Ecuador by the Peace Corp. I left on my own and with my friend, explored Ecuador for ten glorious days. Once I returned, I knew that travel would always be a permanent part of my life. 

My first career was as an outpatient Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I owned and operated a large outpatient mental health clinic in Oklahoma City for fourteen years before selling it to a corporation to go on and do bigger and better things. As I found myself with an immediate excess of extra time, I began my career as a travel advisor. My personal experience of extensive travel has allowed me the ability to work with customers who seek various destination packages. One of my favorite things to do is create custom, curated trips where your experiences are more than just average, they are exciting and memorable for a lifetime. I love pairing a traveler with tours that speak best to their passions and accommodations that make them feel more like a local. Above all, I have a true passion for group travel. I absolutely love meeting new people, and there's no better Joy than watching them experience the wonder of a new destination for the first time. I want to bring people to destinations across the world where we can mark off each bucket list item, one adventure at a time. I have a variety of certifications and awards. I am a Sandals Elite Advisor, a Hyatt Inclusive Confidant Advisor and have numerous certifications to sell dozens of resort brands all across the Caribbean. I am certified in selling all major cruise lines, for both river as well as ocean including Holland America, Princess Cruises, Seaborn, Virgin Voyages, Viking Cruise, Ama Waterways, Avalon Waterways and others. I work with a variety of land tour operators, most notably Globus Tours. In 2024 I was invited to the European Travel Forum to meet with tour operators from all across Europe to enhance my ability to book European Vacation Packages. For 2025, I am proud to be a Wavemaker with Apple Leisure Group, qualifying me as one of the top 1500 agents in the United States based on sales. 

I have lived almost my entire life in Oklahoma City, but have relocated to Newcastle with my husband as empty nesters. While our two children are grown, we have the joy of a grandson who occupies a ton of our free time. When we aren't with the family, you can find us on the back porch with our dog, where I forever have my nose in a book!
