Let’s Talk Ocean Cruising
You don’t know this about me, but I have a huge phobia about ocean cruising. I can’t watch the Poseidon Adventure, not even kidding. I still agonize over the swim scene with Shelly Winters. You know the one, and I just gave away my age.
I think that’s a big part of why I love river cruising. If the ship sinks it’s still above water. I can stand on the upper deck, dry, safe and sound.
I know, it isn’t logical. And I take quite a bit of pride in being a logical person.
So when my friend Karen Ross, our NCL rep, asked me to go on the inaugural cruise of the NCL Prima it was a firm “not on your life, but thanks for the invitation”.
But then curiosity took over, and logic followed.
When you consider the millions upon millions of cruise travelers every year, and the once in a decade incident that happens on a ship, it’s probably safer than flying. I’ll Google it later.
The point is, I’m going on the NCL Prima at the end of October. It has Go-Carts at sea! And the Donna Summer Musical. How could I resist? I just found out Kelly Clarkson will be with us. Holy cow. Plus, I looked at the Prima’s future cruise itineraries and she’ll be sailing to Europe. Including Iceland. I’m all about that. Aren’t you?
As you know, we never recommend anywhere we haven’t tried first. By the end of October, I will have tried out the NCL Prima, and will be able to tell you from firsthand experience everything about her you’ll want to know. Then, if she’s right for you, let’s sail her to Iceland, shall we?
She’s also sailing the Norwegian Fjords, which are also on my bucket list.
I tend to go for escorted tours or river cruises when it comes to Europe. But ocean cruises, depending on how much time they allow in the ports of call, can be an intriguing option as well. With a multitude of cabin categories, there’s something for every price point. And with so many onboard activities, you’re having a great time on both land and sea.
Logical rules the day, and a-sailing I will go. Follow me on Facebook to enjoy the fun vicariously. Then let’s get you onboard for your next vacation, shall we?
