Day by Day:
Day 1 - Depart Seattle, WA - Seattle is a far cry from the rugged frontier we will spend the majority of our time enjoying but it is a city that shouldn't be overlooked. Pike Place Market is full of quirky shops and amazing food stalls, the museums and art galleries that surround the famous Space Needle have something for every age and interest and the waterfront is the perfect place to enjoy a fresh seafood meal as you watch the ferries pass by. I recommend flying in at least one day early to enjoy everything Seattle has to offer.
Day 2 - At Sea - This is our only day at sea and it's the perfect time to explore the ship. You can take advantage of the multiple activities offered, book a spa treatment or simply relax on your balcony and watch the scenery. You will most likely find me in one of the many hot tubs!
Day 3 - Juneau - The capital city of Alaska is a great first stop! You can do anything in Juneau, hike to the Mendenhall Glacier, take a sea plane to the Taku Lodge for a delicious salmon feast, go zip lining or fishing... One must do is Tracy's Crab Shack!
Day 4 - Glacier Bay National Park - While we do not get off the boat in Glacier Bay, the park rangers board the ship and narrate our journey up the inlet. We will pass by multiple glaciers as we approach Margerie and Grand Pacific Glaciers where we will spend several hours admiring the beauty and watch icebergs calving. Our last time in Glacier Bay we saw whales, bears, mountain goats, puffins, otters and eagles all within a matter of hours. It's truly an unbelievable place and the reason we chose this itinerary again.
Day 5 - Sitka - Hands down one of the most scenic towns you will ever see! Colorful houses line the shores, tiny islands dot the sound and gorgeous snow capped mountains provide a backdrop for it all. Sitka is also an amazing place for whale watching as you can see from the photos. It was definitely a day we will never forget.
Day 6 - Ketchikan - Ketchikan has a colorful history involving bootleggers and brothels. Now it is much more family friendly but you can still visit Dolly's museum for a peek at life in those days. Popular excursions include a sea plane to the Misty Fjords, 1/2 day fishing trip for halibut, salmon or crab and the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show is fun for all ages!
Day 7 - Victoria, B.C. - This modern city will make you think you are in Europe! The famous Butchart Gardens is on every must-do list for Victoria, as is a whale watching cruise to see the Orcas that call the local waters home year round!
Day 8 - Seattle
