The Time is Now
I have the sweetest customers, I really do. One lovely couple of mine had booked a trip to Africa that was cancelled due to Covid. It was his “trip of a lifetime”.
They followed my trip to Africa back in February on social media and decided to go for it again. I booked them on the exact itinerary I had experienced for February 2024.
He passed away unexpectedly last month. Broke my heart.
The truth is this. By the time most people can afford those “trips of a lifetime” they are also old enough to know they’re running out of time.
I love the Viking commercial in which the founder of Viking says “time is the scarcest commodity. The only thing we really don’t have enough of is time”. He’s absolutely right.
Living in tornado alley gives us a unique perspective, doesn’t it? We know all too well that one storm can take everything you’ve worked so hard to accumulate. Even our lives. One storm.
Experiences. Experiences are the one thing that neither a storm nor a terminal diagnosis can steal from you.
We have a friend who will not rest easy until she has climbed Kilimanjaro. She’s been working toward that goal for months and is going to make her first attempt in February 2024.
My oldest son had his heart set on skydiving. Mission accomplished. Much to my annoyance. Ha ha
Whatever it is you want to experience before you die (and I’m not just talking about trips) may I encourage you to go for it?
Your Globetrotting Friend,
Joy
