Jamaica, One of my Favorites (Caribbean Is Opening Up)

Happy June everyone!

Now that the Caribbean is beginning to open back up, I thought you might be interested in knowing some tidbits about one of my favorite islands, Jamaica.

For instance, did you know the pineapple actually went to Hawaii from Jamaica?  Did you know the fastest man and woman on earth are from Jamaica?  Jamaica was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to have a railroad.  Ian Fleming wrote his James Bond novels while living at his beautiful oceanfront estate in Jamaica.  (By the way, that estate is now a boutique resort that might be perfect for your next vacation).  Jamaica is the size of Connecticut, and is home to about 2.8 million people.  Because Jamaica is so ethnically diverse, their motto is "Out of many, one people".

If you are traveling to Jamaica, the Ocho Rios side of the island is home to most tourist attractions.  Mystic Mountain is my personal favorite.

In the Montego Bay area there are 5 of the best golf courses on the entire island.

Negril is famous for 7 mile beach, and is known as the "Capital of Casual"

I've been to Jamaica more times than I can count.  I was there 13 times in one two year period.  I love Jamaica, and am what the locals call a "Jamerican".
