Why Do I Do It?

I can’t believe we are going into our 17th year of business here at The Joy of Travel.   Time flies when you are having fun, and believe me owning and operating The Joy of Travel has been a whirlwind of fun (other than 2020, which goes without saying).

Why do I do it?  I was asked that question dozens of times during the 2020 debacle.  It all boils down to one thing, I absolutely love this business.  Everything about it.  I love getting to know you and your preferences.   I love planning your trips.  I love helping you when there’s a kink in the plans.  I love watching you have fun as you post your vacation pics on social media.  I love taking you with me on my personally escorted tours.

But it’s more than that.  I am approaching almost two decades of history with so many of you.  I planned your honeymoons, your first family vacations, your anniversary trips.  I planned the 50th anniversary “trip of a lifetime” for your parents.  I planned the Sr Class trips for your children.  I planned your first trip to Europe, and every one after that.  You sent your friends and co-workers to me for their vacations.  You shared the biggest and most important moments of your lives with me.  You, my customers, make this all worthwhile.

I love my agents.   Did you know my agents were my customers before they became my agents?  I was so impressed with them as I planned their vacations, I lured them into this crazy world of travel with me.  They’ve been a Godsend.  Our agency has been able to grow beyond my wildest dreams due to their dedication and partnership.  My personal life has been blessed beyond measure by their love and friendship.

I truly love to travel.  I love to see new places, experience new cultures, and meet new people.  I love revisiting old favorites and soaking in their charm once again.  I truly believe travel enhances our lives in a way no other experience can duplicate.  It’s one thing to watch a travel show on TV, it’s quite another to see it in person.  As we soak in the history and culture of new places, as we meet the people and learn about their lives, we are changed by our discoveries.

So again, why do I do it?  Because I love it.  I not only love it, I am “in” love with it.  Even after 2020.  The Joy of Travel is here to stay.

Speaking of 2020, I want to express my sincere appreciation for your support during the worst year in the history of travel.  It was our honor and privilege to help you as we sorted out the ever changing travel landscape over the past year.  On one day alone, one of our biggest travel partners changed their refund policy twice in the same day.  Many of you waited months upon months for our preferred partners to process your refunds.  There has never been, and may it please God, may there never be, another event so cataclysmic to the travel industry.  You stood with us, you allowed us to do our best for you, and we are so very grateful.

Your globetrotting friend,
Joy
